Partners

The best in their field — alongside us.

As a manufacturer-independent smart home practice we choose our partners out of conviction rather than obligation: architects, interior studios and premium brands whose work, combined with ours, produces a home of the highest order.

Studio ASH

Since its founding in 2006 Studio ASH has described itself explicitly as a practice for interior architecture and lighting concepts — there, light is a design instrument, right up to luminous ceilings that can carry video. That is exactly where we come in: DALI addressing of the luminaire groups, separate layers for ambient, accent and effect lighting, scenes with defined dimming curves and colour temperatures. Because architecture and interior architecture sit under one management, ceiling outlets, cable routes and the arrangement of switches can be settled during design — and where a single switch in the right place will do, we do not build a scene controller.

Georg Döring Architekten

Founded in 1999, working as lead designers since 2024, with a range that runs from a detached house in Langenfeld ("House of the Year 2024") through the Pillebach co-housing villa to the conversion of a department store into the interim home of the Cologne City Museum. The practice offers interior architecture as a discipline in its own right, and that is the level at which electrical design is decided: KNX topology and distribution board areas settled in the design stage rather than on site, DALI coordinated with the lighting concept, every control point located on the floor plan. On full refurbishments we say early where retrofitting a bus system does not pay for itself.

Dohmen Architekten

More than 30 years of experience and a project list running from a 145 m² house in Köln-Weiß to a commercial building with 16,450 m² of floor area — carried through HOAI work stages 1 to 8. Our contacts there are Constantin Dohmen and Katharina Zimmer. Where design and delivery lie in one pair of hands, the electrical design can be considered early: KNX topology, the DALI lighting layer, shading and the position of control points belong in the plan and the section. Administrative and logistics buildings have different user profiles from a house — we design those separately.

Benjamin von Pidoll

Since 2011 the practice has designed architecture and interior architecture in one process — detached villas, lofts and penthouses as well as conversions of listed buildings, gathered under the motto "Creating Details into Atmosphere". Where lime plaster, oak and matt stone surfaces are placed this precisely, there is no room for banks of switches beside every door: we check the number and position of control points against the furniture layout, design scenes rather than individual circuits, and locate presence detectors and blind actuators in the construction drawings.

Hassler Architektur + Design

At Hassler both disciplines sit at the same table: Michael Hassler as a chartered architect registered with the NRW Chamber of Architects, Maria Hassler as an interior designer. For us that is the best possible starting point, because the lighting concept and the material decisions are made together rather than one after the other. We lay the technical layer underneath: DALI groups following the lighting design, control points aligned with the interior architecture rather than an electrical grid, shading and indoor climate on the same bus.

BERG | Architecture & Interior

Michael Berg, Dipl.-Ing. (FH), combines a planner's precision with a designer's sure instinct. For private homes and demanding projects he develops spaces in which architecture, material, light and function come together into one clear whole. His holistic approach fits smartfabrik precisely: technical requirements are considered from the outset — not as a later addition, but as a natural part of the design. The result is work in which high-quality design and intelligent building services read as a single piece.

Architekten Strothotte

Modern architecture with a clear formal language, plus interior architecture and construction management from one source — a practice that carries the design through to the site. That is exactly where we come in: we introduce the manufacturer-independent KNX and lighting design early enough that control points, luminaires and cable routes follow the design rather than correcting it afterwards.

Susanne Volkens

Interior architecture with clarity and character — exactly the attitude we design with. Susanne Volkens accompanies her clients from interior and design through the planning stages and into site supervision; we bring in the manufacturer-independent KNX and lighting technology so that it follows the spatial concept. Control points, luminaires and scenes become part of the design rather than a technical grid imposed afterwards.

P & S Architektur

Sandra Poetters, Dipl.-Ing., and Jan Stevens think of house and room together, and divide their work rigorously into exterior and interior. That view matches ours: exterior lighting, shading and the façade belong on the same KNX layer as lighting, climate and controls indoors — including a weather station that protects the external venetian blinds and helps control the garden irrigation. We bring the technical design in as soon as the sequence of rooms is settled.

Zimmermanns Kreatives Wohnen

Since 1955 Zimmermanns has combined interior architecture, its own upholstery workshop and a furnishing house under one roof — furniture made to measure rather than off the peg. Zimmermanns develops the spatial, lighting and material concept; we plan the KNX layer beneath it: lighting scenes laid out for the actual furniture, shading matched to the fabrics, controls where you expect them in the finished room.

Art of Surface

Seamless surfaces are the ideal stage for invisibly integrated technology: no visible edges, clean planes into which sensors, controls and light settle quietly. It does demand lead time, though — back boxes, outlets and recess positions must be fixed before the filler goes on. We supply the electrical and KNX design with those exact positions, so that nothing has to be opened up afterwards.

Controls & multiroom · Gold Partner · Kortrijk · Belgium

Basalte

As a Basalte Gold Partner we specify the Belgian controls where operating the house becomes part of the design itself: Sentido in brushed aluminium, glass or leather, Deseo as the room control, Asano for multiroom audio. This is the most uncompromising choice in the portfolio — and the one where coordination with the interior designer pays off most, because material, colour and engraving are all yours to determine.

Gira

Gira builds its KNX technology forty minutes' drive from our office. For us it is the dependable middle ground: considered system technology from video entry through to the X1, together with switch ranges running from restrained to expressive. Where clients want a system that will still have spare parts and updates in ten years, Gira is regularly the calmest decision.

JUNG

The LS 990 is the classic among switch ranges — in our 1,200 m² villa in Riyadh it runs the whole house together with 800 DALI luminaires. JUNG gives us the range from that classic through to the frameless LS ZERO, which disappears flush into the wall, and behind it a KNX system world that works unobtrusively day to day. Also from North Rhine-Westphalia, also made in Germany.

ekinex

ekinex manufactures an unusually complete KNX world in Italy: wall devices from ERA to Series 71, plus DIN-rail devices, dimming and HVAC actuators, gateways and metering, the Delégo server with its panels, and multiroom audio. What interests us most is the depth on the DIN rail — that is precisely where it is decided whether a concept works out cleanly or whether compromises end up creeping into the design.

Occhio

For us light is an integral part of a well-considered smart home. With Occhio we combine luminaires of real design quality with our KNX planning, so that brightness, colour temperature and scenes are precisely bound into the whole — rooms in which design and technology work together: intuitive to control, tuned for atmosphere, and premium for the long run.

Lighting workshop · Denmark

ONE A

The Danish workshop ONE A makes architectural lighting with a minimum of visual noise — leather, aluminium, concrete, brass and wood, assembled in Denmark. The modular STORM SYSTEM can be cut precisely to a floor plan instead of placing standard fittings into finished rooms. For us that is the ideal lighting layer over DALI: restrained in design terms, cleanly dimmable and easy to bring into scenes.

Busch-Jaeger

For us Busch-Jaeger combines considered switch and control aesthetics with robust KNX system technology — a combination that holds up equally well in new builds and high-end refurbishments. We use it to design solutions that sit comfortably in the interior and stay extensible over the long run.

Delta Light

Delta Light makes luminaires designed to disappear into the building fabric — trimless recessed fittings that finish flush with the ceiling, along with spots and light lines for continuous reveals. It is the strongest solution in design terms and the least forgiving in planning terms: fittings like these go in before plastering, and their position is fixed from then on. So we settle reflected ceiling plans, outlets and recess positions with the lighting designer before drylining begins, and run the luminaires over DALI so that brightness and colour temperature can be set into scenes separately.

Invisible audio & outdoor sound · San Clemente · California

Sonance

Sonance invented the in-wall loudspeaker as a category of its own and has taken it as far as the Invisible Series, which disappears entirely behind plaster or drylining — in the finished room there is nothing to see. Alongside it sits the Landscape Series for the garden, where the speakers sit among the planting rather than on the façade. For us that means loudspeaker positions belong in the same early design round as luminaires and control points, together with the cable route to the technical room and space for the amplifier in the rack.

Multiroom audio · Santa Barbara · California

Sonos

Sonos is the interface our clients already know — and with Amp and Port it can also drive built-in loudspeakers, Sonance's among them. The audio runs over the network rather than over KNX: we design the cabling, the access points and the space in the technical room, and connect the two worlds so that a switch on the wall starts the same music as the app.
