A KNX system lasts for decades — longer than the firm that built it, and longer than the paperwork that came out of it. We work on systems that already exist: planning, programming, documenting. No matter who built them.
Everything in this area hangs on a single distinction: are you missing something, or do you know what you want? What you find here is sorted accordingly.
The project has vanished, nobody knows any more what is connected where, or the original installer can no longer be reached. Before anything is changed, the foundation has to come back.
The system runs, the documents are there, and a project is coming up: something is to be added, brought up to date or put on a tablet. Then the first question is not what is missing — but what the system is to become.
The planning and the programming are ours. The building is done by our own electricians at elektrofabrik — our sister company. One team, one responsibility, from system readout to handover. If you already have an electrical contractor, you keep them: they then work from our documentation, and we coordinate with them.
System readout, ETS project, parameterisation, commissioning, documentation and the handover to you — including the decision on what is worth doing and what is not. That is our part, and it stays manufacturer-independent.
Everything for which someone opens the distribution board: fitting devices, running cables, terminating. Our sister company does that — same address, same chain of responsibility. If your property is further away or you have your own contractor, we coordinate them instead.
The ETS project, the device list, the function overview. We hold nothing back in order to stay indispensable — a system any electrical contractor can carry on maintaining is worth more than one only we understand.
Everything that happens to a system that is already in place: extending, reprogramming, documenting, winning back a lost project, taking over its care from another firm. Planning and programming are done by us, the building by our own electricians at elektrofabrik — that is our sister company, not an outside provider. You can also keep your own contractor; they then work from our documentation. The two roles remain separate in responsibility and in invoicing, not under our roof.
It comes down to a single question: are you missing something, or do you know what you want? If you no longer have your ETS project, do not know what is installed, or can no longer reach anyone who knows the system, you start with reconstruction — there the point is to bring the foundation back. If you have the documents and a concrete plan, you start with service. The two interlock: a reconstruction often ends with exactly the extension someone rang about.
For the first step, often not. If an IP gateway is in place, we connect to the bus remotely by arrangement and get a picture of the system. If there is none, we send one over — your electrician plugs it in, we read out remotely. Only then do we decide together whether a site visit is needed at all. That applies in the Rhineland just as it does to a property abroad.
Yes, that is the rule in this area. We train KNX integrators ourselves; that experience is why we can take on systems that others have given up on. What we produce along the way — ETS project, device list, function overview — belongs to you and is handed over so that another electrical contractor can carry on working with it.
A phone call and a first assessment cost nothing. Even "in your case this is not worth doing" is a result we will tell you.
