smartfabrik is a smart home planning practice based in Düsseldorf, Reisholzer Werftstr. 31A. We plan manufacturer-independently on a KNX basis — for private clients, demanding refurbishment projects and companies in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area. Installation is carried out by our sister company elektrofabrik if you wish; programming and commissioning always stay with us.

Complete electrical installation, smart home and smart office under one period roof: KNX control, an Occhio lighting concept, video entry and shading — integrated precisely into the historic fabric without touching its character.
A former industrial and wine warehouse in the heart of the city, today a penthouse with raw brick character. We took on the complete electrical and network design: lighting scenes from a simulated sunrise to a cinema evening, projector and screen control, all of it by voice as well.

Yes. In Oberkassel we completely rewired a period building and fitted it with a smart home and smart office — Occhio lighting, KNX control, video entry and shading, integrated precisely into the existing fabric. In existing buildings we check beforehand what is genuinely worth doing.
Yes, with Georg Döring Architekten from Düsseldorf and BERG | Architecture & Interior among others. We bring our KNX design into the concept early, so that control points, lighting and controls are part of the design rather than a later compromise.
If you wish, yes — through our sister company elektrofabrik with its own electricians. Alternatively we coordinate your electrical contractor: our documentation is set out so that any specialist contractor can work with it. Programming and commissioning stay with us in either case.
